Treatment Approach and Specialties
My approach will depend on your needs and personal goals. I am collaborative with my clients and upon working together, I will inquire about what approaches you believe may work best for you, as I fully believe that personal empowerment comes along with understanding your hurts needs.
I utilize a variety of approaches including Cognitive/Cognitive-Behavioral, Attachment, Acceptance and Commitment, Psychodynamic, Client-Centered and Psychoeducational.
I will work with you to create a treatment plan that is customized to meet your unique circumstances. Treatment plans occur after the biopsychosocial assessment, a process in which I assess your needs not only based on your symptoms and reason for coming to therapy, but also take into account your overall health history, relationship with others, and how other systems within your life may be affecting your well-being. After we compete your initial therapy assessment, we collaborate to move toward a tailored treatment plan and approach that includes tools to help sustain the growth experienced in regular therapy.
Demographic specialties and passions
I work with a range of clients that present a variety of unique circumstances related to depression, trauma, life transitions and anxiety. Additionally, I am especially passionate about assisting clients facing the following issues:
Adult survivors of childhood trauma and helping survivors become trauma-informed
Adult survivors of racial trauma
Adult survivors of abuse, hurt and isolation within the Christian church
Multiethnic/mixed-identified adults who, along with racial trauma, have challenges in finding comfort and security in their racial/ethnic/cultural identity
The passions above are not exclusive, and as aforementioned, I work with a variety of adult clients who present with various issues and concerns for their emotional well-being.
